The Public Health Engineering Department  became a full fledged department on August, 1983 after branching out from Public Works Department. The department looks after the water supply and sanitation of the whole state of Mizoram. At present, there are 5 circles, 16 working divisions and 37 working sub-divisions. The office is headed by the Engineer-in-Chief Er. Lalmuanzova.
